2007 Rotary Roundup

2008 Dates: October 24,25,26 MARK YOUR CALENDARS- Let's see how many FLYING ROTARY PLANES we can get together in 2008!!!!

The annual Shady Bend Rotary Roundup was held on October 26 - 28, 2008. The weather was pretty nice locally, but very poor up the east coast, so Ed Anderson(NC) and Max Lasscher (NY) were weathered out. It was a shame, both because they were missed and because had they arrived, we would have had the largest ever gathering of rotary powered planes. Maybe next year.

We had 50+ people attend and the entire group was up until 2:00 AM Friday night and up again before 7 on Saturday. Seems like the laughing, talking, friendship and information sharing was endless.

Dave Leonard won the 'Longest Distance Flown - Rotary Powered Plane" award for he 2000+ miles he flew from California to Colorado to Florida. The other fly in rotary attendees were: Jason Hutchinson (TX) RV-7A; Dennis Haverlah (TX) RV-7A; Rich Nadig (TN) RV-3. Scott Stout (NC) came in a Cessna and Kent Dubose (FL) brought his RV for display (Lycoming).

All the forums were interesting and well attended, and we extend a special THANK YOU to Jason Hutchinson, Howard Trefethan, Richard Sohn, and Dave Leonard for their presentations.
